Care Initiatives Hospice is always looking for volunteers who want to help provide personal care and deserving attention to patients at a critical point in their lives. It’s a rewarding experience with many benefits, and a vital part of the hospice philosophy of service – providing friendship, comfort and compassion to people in the last stages of life.
Volunteers can serve in a wide variety of capacities:
- Patient services ranging from making visits, sharing conversations, going for walks, writing letters, reading stories and more
- Respite for caregivers and family members, such as making deliveries, picking up prescriptions, mowing lawns, etc.
- Bereavement support, including support group assistance, notifications/mailings and supplementing bereavement staff efforts.
Care Initiatives Hospice volunteers are carefully screened and required to complete an application, interview process, reference checks and background checks. Volunteers are required to complete orientation prior to assignment.
